Challenges
Timely and effective implementation of a cloud technology solution to control all processes from inbound to outbound, including batch tracking, expiration dates, customer-specific freshness requirements, and special labeling for premium customers, while improving processing times for activities at the distribution center.
Key requirements included:
- Implementation across four distribution centers and two companies located in Toluca. Cold chambers management in two centers, quarantine warehouses, and raw materials warehouses.
- Batch traceability and expiration tracking to ensure the freshest products for customers with specific needs.
- Ensuring of the adoption of the tool through on-site training to minimize the learning curve and achieve early benefits.
- Agile storage location assignment system, considering picking and reserve zones.
- Wave picking processes with LPN management and rules like FIFO.
- Timely raw material delivery to production areas.
- Easy integration of mobile technology (Hand Helds/Terminals).
- Custom label design for premium customer requirements.
- Integration with Oracle ERP JD Edwards to share and receive data regarding purchase orders, sales orders, returns, transfers, inventory adjustments, etc.

Solutions
– A warehouse solution across four distribution centers was implemented, with a custom design based on the newly defined “TO BE” processes. Early testing with key and end-users facilitated the adoption of the new system and paradigm. Physical preparation of warehouses was ensured (WiFi coverage, correct -labeling of locations and existing inventory).
– On-site training to minimize go-live errors.
– Custom labels were designed in Label Designer for process-specific requirements.
– Special reports were developed for decision-making, especially for truck loading.
. Operational go-live occurred as planned within the set timeline.
– Prepared operations for rollouts to other distribution centerseing continued.
